New Sketchbooks

Here are some newly completed sketchbooks. Made from old geological maps the pages are a lovely texture for sketching and doodling. The handsewn spines allow them to lie flat when open.
Alternate pages are all uniquely patterned with a gorgeous mixture of colours. If you want to see more have a look in my shop

Notebooks

Have been recycling some discarded maps into notebooks. This one has a stitched coptic binding so it lays flat when open, making it ideal for drawing. The map paper make lovely pages to doodle on and you can draw on places youve never heard of

Glebe Cottage plants

A few pictures from Carol Klein's garden which I visited recently. Fantastic to visit a plant lovers garden that appears to have developed naturally and is on a 'domestic' scale. Her nursery is great too!

Blog procrastination over

Here is my Little Gem Quilt that I have made for the Contemporary Quilt Group tombola at the Festival of Quilts to raise funds for the new Quilters Guild Museum and Gallery in York, hopefully someone will be pleased to win it! Its hand pieced and quilted while my lovely Bernina sewing machine has been away for a service. There are loads of these A4 sized quilts that have been submitted, view the gallery here

Strange Fruits

A female monkey puzzle tree preparing to fruit in the autumn. The tree needs to be 40 years old before this happens and you can't tell if its a female or male tree until then.
Check out this brilliant piece of graffiti knitting

Woodcarving

I have been going to woodcarving classes and discovered I am a whittler! Here's a bad photo of what I have been making recently. If the girl pesters the bird for long enough, he flies down into her arms

The brilliant textile artist Linda Miller now has a blog, so you can see what she's working on at the moment and get a bit of a peek at her book due out later this year. She has lots of examples of her beautiful work on her website
